Part One: at the airport
You will learn all of the important phrases that you need to use at the airport. We will also practice role-plays in various situations on the plane as well as the terms that you will need to pass through customs, etc. at your destination airport.
Food and Restaurant:
You will learn everything that has to do with eating, cooking and ordering.
At the Hotel:
We will practice the vocabulary you need at a hotel and through role-plays make the language come alive. You will learn everything from reserving the right room for your stay up to eventual complaints that you might have to make and how to resolve them.
Small Talk on the Golf Course
Social contact with both customers and business partners is an important aspect of today’s business life. A sound knowledge of the social “do’s and don’ts” in various different cultures offers all involved in international business an invaluable advantage in their overall dealings with customers and partners.
For this reason we have developed this very special “English on the Golf Course” seminar in order to promote an on-location learning of language skills needed in realistic social situations. Just one full day in a real life environment can replace weeks of study in the traditional classroom atmosphere. All of the senses are activated effectively whether kinesthetic (physical movement), visual (sight), auditory (hearing), olfactory (smell), haptic (touch) and finally when it comes to enjoying a little “après-golf” treat, also gustatory (taste). In this way every type of learner is best served.

More and more business is being conducted on the golf course these days, and small talk is often the key to closing deals! This workshop will focus on the various topics of small talk, and will give the participants lots of practice speaking, as well as learning new expressions, and idioms while enjoying a round of golf.
What it is:
The focus will be on freer speaking practice on the various topics of small talk. Topics will include things like the weather, sports, hobbies, free time, travelling and others.
As group size is limited to four people maximum (three participants and the facilitator) per session, participants will get a lot of practice speaking and the chance for direct feedback from the facilitator.
When the round of golf is finished, the opportunity for learning isn’t. After the round of golf, we will visit the club house or as some call it the 19th hole. Here we will sit together for another 45 minutes to examine further “the art of small talk”.
Participants can sign up for just one workshop, or they can sign up for all four. The deadline for signing up is at least two weeks before the particular workshop date.
Each participant who signs up for the full series will receive a book on business communication – small talk.

Notes on the facilitator:
Marie-Joée Whisell van Deventer is a native speaker of English who comes from the UK. She has extensive experience teaching Business English in Germany, holds a Bachelors of Arts degree with Honors. Marie-Josée is new at playing Golf so we will have time on the course to concentrate on the English Language whilst you will excel at Golfing, she will concentrate on your use of the English language.
